Carl LeRoy Hazlett Jr., age 54, of Cherry Valley, died Saturday, August 15, 2015 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Warren.  He was born December 3, 1960 in Warren, Ohio, the son of Carl LeRoy Hazlett Sr. and Frances Ruth (Stanton) Shick.

Carl worked as a professional finish carpenter and more recently doing outdoor maintenance for Cherry Valley United Methodist Church.  He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and playing pool.  He also liked watching “History Channel” and “How it’s Made”.  He was a proud lifetime member of the North American Fishing Club.

He is survived by his father, Carl L. (Kathryn) Hazlett, Sr. of Conroe, TX; mother, Frances R. (the late Phillip Roy) Shick of Warren, OH; children, Cynthia Crystal (Charles) Moore, Jenifer Rebeca (Raymond) McLean, Carl L. (Heather) Hazlett III and Caza Marie (Martin) Guerrero; grandchildren, Aubrey and Kinzley Moore, Haleigh MacLean, Aiden and Carl IV Hazlett, Michael Guerrero;  siblings, Denise (Rodney) Holmes of Cherry Valley, Kathy (Patrick) Perry of Idaho Falls, Idaho, James (Frances) Hazlett of Greensboro, NC and Cynthia (David) Curland of Norcross, GA; 6 nephews, 4 nieces and 1 great niece.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Birney and Dorothy Stanton and paternal grandparents, Archie and Kathryn Hazlett.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 6:00 P. M. at the Cherry Valley United Methodist Church, 3353 St. Rt. 6, Andover, Ohio 44003 with Pastor John Germaine officiating. Burial will take place in Crown Hill Cemetery in Vienna, Ohio at a later date.  Memorial contributions may be made in Carl’s honor to the Cherry Valley United Methodist Church, Memorial Tree Fund, at the address listed above.
