Gerald Howard Morse

Gerald H. Morse, age 68, St. Rt. 193, Dorset Twp., died early Monday morning at the Louis Stokes Cleveland V. A. Medical Center.

 

He was born November 8, 1947 in Warren, the son of Howard & Laurabell (Bower) Morse and has been a resident of Ashtabula County all of his life.  He attended Kinsman Badger High School and was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving in the Vietnam War where he received two Purple Hearts, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry W/Palm Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Marksmanship Badge/Rifel Medal and the Bronze Star Medal.

 

Gerald was a 13 year employee of the Sidley Corp., retiring in 2009 and was formerly employed with Pep Drilling.  He was affiliated with the Dorset United Methodist Church and enjoyed landscaping and gardening.

 

He is survived by his wife, the former Sally Ann Johns, whom he married on September 16, 1979 at the Gustavas United Methodist Church, two step-children, Sally A. (David) Elliott of Columbus, MS & William John (Amanda) Bean of Madison, MS, five step-grandchildren, Caleb, Zachary, Tyler, Hannah & Sierra and two brothers, Edwin & Larry Morse, both in Trumbull Co.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ronald Morse.

 

No services or calling hours will be observed.  Mr. Morse requested to be cremated.  The Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 49 W.
