Ingrid M. Whitaker, 70 of Ashtabula died Sunday (April 24th) at the home of her son in Saybrook Township. She was born February 14, 1946 in Cleveland, Ohio the daughter of Carl N and Neva A. (Whelpley) Nelson and has been a lifetime area resident.

She was a 1964 graduate of Edgewood High School and graduated from the Ashtabula Branch of the Youngstown School of Cosmetology in 1965.

She was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church of Ashtabula; the Griggs Grange #1467 and the Quilters Guild. She enjoyed reading, sewing, genealogy, collecting thimbles and especially quilting, but most of all she loved taking care of her family.

Surviving her are six children, Renee (David) Buhl of Clinton, TN, David (Shelly) Whitaker of Saybrook Twp., Judith (William) Neff of Saybrook Twp., Diane (Sean) McBride of Ashtabula, John (Rebecca) Whitaker of Newnan, Georgia and Laura Whitaker of Ashtabula; 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; two sisters, Norma (Gary) Eble of Conneaut, Cheryl (Charles) Stills of Kingsville; a sister-in-law, Donna Weeks of Brooksville, Florida and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband David A. Whitaker Sr. and two grandsons.

A memorial service will be Friday (April 29th) at 11:00 AM at Messiah Lutheran Church, 615 W. Prospect Rd. Ashtabula with Rev. Michael Meranda officiating. Burial will be in Saybrook Township Cemetery.
