Mary E. Mason, 93 of West 41st St. Ashtabula died Tuesday (Oct. 10th) at Saybrook Landing. She was born June 5, 1924 in Sault St. Marie, Michigan the daughter of William J. and Myrtle (Humphrey) Moore and has lived in the Ashtabula area since 1951.

She served in the US Navy from 1944 until 1946 during World War II. She married Donald Mason on April 27, 1945. She was  Past President of VFW Post #943 Auxiliary and also past District Secretary for the VFW Auxiliary. She was a member of the American Business Women’s Association; the Eagles Auxiliary #1463 and a longtime member of The First Covenant Church.

She enjoyed reading, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great- grandchild.

Surviving her are her three daughters, Barbara J. ( William Loll) Mason , Sherla Mason and Cynthia A. (Thomas) Butch all of Ashtabula; five grandchildren, Melissa Griggs, Timothy (Diane) Butch, Amanda Butch, David (Rick)  Frasure and Mark Frasure; four great grandchildren, Brittany (Brandon), Nicole, Dylan and Allison and  a great -great grandchild, Jordan Berry. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald in 2002; a daughter, Janet Frasure in 2011 and eight brothers and sisters, Clayton Moore, Kenneth Moore, James Moore, Robert Moore, Ella Hall, Naomi Loadman, Alice Moore and Leota Theriault.

Funeral services will be Friday (Oct. 13th) at 1:00 PM at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 526 W. Prospect Rd. Ashtabula.  Her nephew, Pastor John Griner of the Salvation Army will be officiating.  Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.

Calling hours will be Friday from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in her memory can be made to American Business Women’s Association.
