Richard L. Roth, age 70, of Brownville Rd., Rome, died Saturday, November 14, 2015 at the Cleveland Clinic. He was born December 15, 1944 in Newton Falls, OH, the son of Charles N. & Alverta M. (Hunter) Roth.
He worked the ore boats on the Great Lakes as a seaman and for the past 20 years he drove for the Amish. He loved to go to car auctions and work on cars. He enjoyed flea markets and watching America’s Funniest Home Videos. He worked for over 20 years for Structural Fibers in Chardon as a resin mixer. He was a man who was always willing to help his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Sally M. (Gaines) Roth whom he married on August 20, 1963 in Jefferson; children, Shelly M. (James) Strathern of Rome and Jeremy A. Roth of Rome; siblings, Dennis (Esther) Roth of Rome, Daniel Roth of Orwell, Beverly Painter of Thompson and Delores (Thomas) Gaushitc of Indiana; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Brian Roth; 3 sisters; 3 brothers.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, November 23, 2015 at 6:00 P. M. at the New Lyme Baptist Church, 1280 Dodgeville Rd., New Lyme, Ohio, 44085 with Pastor Bill Aiken and Pastor Paul Woods officiating. Burial will take place in Brownville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the family. The Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, Ohio are honored to serve the Richard L. Roth family.
