Shirley K. Johnson 90, formerly of Ashtabula died Monday (November 28th) at The Heights nursing home in Broadview Hts, Ohio. She was born January 16, 1926 in Titusville, Pa the daughter of Eber L. and Esther E. (Davis) Kerr.

She was a graduate of Titusville High School and had been employed with the Peoples Saving and Loan in Ashtabula for 16 years retiring in 1988.

Shirley is a member of the Ashtabula First United Methodist Church for 58 years and served many years as church secretary and assistant treasurer. She was a member of the Chancel Choir and the United Methodist Women and her poplar “Shirley cake” was served at the church’s luncheons and dinners. She enjoyed bowling, knitting, crossword puzzles and word games.

Surviving her is her husband Grant E. Johnson of 64 years, a daughter, Kathy (John) Kerezy of Broadview Hts with whom she lived; two sons, Kirk (Cindy) Johnson of Center City, MN and Keith (Julia) Johnson of Plain City, Ohio; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and by three sisters, Dorothy Dressler, Jean Young and Barbara Beers.

A memorial service will be Friday (Dec. 2nd) at 11:00 AM at the Ashtabula First United Methodist Church, 4506 Elm Ave. Ashtabula with Rev. Christine Bell officiating. Burial will take place in Edgewood Cemetery.

Calling hour will be Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Memorial Contributions can be made to Ashtabula First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
