Thelma L. Ritzman Hoffman, age 92 of Saybrook Landing in Ashtabula triumphantly went home to be with her Lord on Friday Oct. 7, 2016. She was born in Akron, Ohio on November 5, 1923, the daughter of Homer and Florence Ritzman and has been a resident of Jefferson since 1965 coming from West Chester, PA>

She was married to Don R. Hoffman on November 16, 1942 in Olympia, MA. Together Don and Thelma ministered in the Church of the Nazarene for 40 years before retiring in 1985. They pastored in Orbisonia, PA Church of the Nazarene 1945 -1950, West Chester, PA Church of the Nazarene 1950 – 1965 and the last 20 years in the Jefferson Church of the Nazarene. Thelma was her beloved husband’s helper helping in many ways in their churches, most importantly playing the organ or piano for all services.

Thelma enjoyed spending her time knitting, entertaining, being in the mountains of PA but most mostly playing board or card games with her grandsons.

She is survived by their adopted daughter, Debi (Randy) Johnson of Jefferson, two grandsons, David (Carly) Johnson of Hudson, NC and Tim Johnson of Cuyahoga Falls; four beautiful great granddaughters, Makenna, Emmalynn, Elliana and Raylee; also three sisters, Audrey Richards, Millie (Ken) Denton and Esther (Gary) Polk; a sister-in-law, Wanda Moore plus numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 67 years, her infant son, a brother, John Ritzman and several brothers and sisters-in-law also several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Tuesday (Oct. 11th) at 7:00 PM at the Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 49 West Jefferson St. Jefferson with Rev. Michael Legg of the Ashtabula First Church of the Nazarene officiating with calling hour on Tuesday from 6:00 PM until the time of service,

Burial service will take place on Wednesday (Oct. 12th) at 1:45 PM at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
