Vera A. Brenneman, age 97, died Thursday afternoon at the Jefferson Healthcare Center where she had been a resident the past 14 years.

She was born May 31, 1918 in Pittsburg, PA, the daughter of Elmer & Marie (Trousch) Sudekum, Sr. Mrs. Brenneman was a graduate of Langley High School in Pittsburgh.  She was married to Arnold L. Brenneman on December 26, 1936 in Wellsburg, WV and has lived in this area most of her life.

Mrs. Brenneman was a member of the Jefferson United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir over 40 years was a Sunday school teacher and was involved with the United Methodist Women.  She was a member of the Jefferson Grange and in earlier years was involved with the Jefferson High School Music Boosters, serving as uniform chairman.  She enjoyed music and crafts.

Survivors include two children, Les A. (Roberta) Brenneman & Carole L. (Ed) Brown, both of Jefferson, four grandchildren, Mark (Val) Brenneman of Hilton Head, SC, Linda (Randy Park) Comp of Jefferson, Raegan (Bryan) Hagerdon of Jefferson & Chris (Judie) Brown of Coatesville, PA, 13 great-grandchildren, Lauren, Kristen, Chelsea, Jessica & Rachael Brenneman, Elisha Gozzard, Brice & Deanna Comp, Brandon & Brenna Hagerdon and Brad, Stephen & Tyler Brown, a great-great-grandson, Easton Gozzard and a great-great-grandchild, Baby Comp due in February, a sister, Barbara Ann Tomey of Rennerdale, PA and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Arnold in 1997, a grandson, Gregory Brenneman, brother & sister-in-law, Elmer & Virginia Sudekum, Jr., sister, Janet Brandebura and brother-in-laws, Allen Tomey & Nick Brandebura.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:00 P. M. at the Jefferson United Methodist Church, 125 E. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Dan Bilkert officiating.  Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday from 12-1 P. M. at the church.  The family requests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the Jefferson United Methodist Church Choir at the above address, envelopes will also be at the church on Monday.
