Catherine A. “Cathy” Chah-Gillespie, age 54, Jefferson, died Sunday evening at the David Simpson Hospice House.
Cathy was born August 13, 1964 in Morgan Twp., the daughter of the late Donald & Delores (Hintz) Chah and has resided in the Jefferson area most of her life. She was a 1982 graduate of Jefferson Area High School and has been employed with Lakeview Federal Credit Union in Jefferson more than 18 years.
Over the years, Cathy volunteered for the Rock Creek PTO, Jefferson Falcon End-Zone Club, was a board member for the Rock Creek Library and member of the First Baptist Church in Jefferson where she taught Sunday school.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph Gillespie and his son, Eli in Painesville & Daniel Gillespie in Willoughby, a brother, Robert (Karen) Chah in Las Vegas, NV; three nieces, Brandy Chah of St. Petersburg, FL, Brandy Russell of Kingston Springs, TN & Mindy White of Cedar City, UT and five great-nieces and nephews.
Cathy had many wonderful family and friends who comforted her through her sickness and would especially like to recognize Lisa Ludwig & Rosemary Hope for their many years of friendship and constant companionship during the last couple of months.
A celebration of life service will be held Friday at 3:00 PM at the Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson with Pastor Kevin Phillips of the First Baptist Church presiding. Burial will be in Morgan Union Cemetery with her parents at a later date.
Visitation will be held Friday from 1-3 PM prior to the service. Cathy has requested in lieu of flowers direct memorial contributions to Operation Christmas Child, c/o First Baptist Church, 85 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, OH 44047, envelopes will also be at the funeral home. All are invited to a celebration gathering immediately following the services at the Jefferson Community Center.
