Donald Edward Sarna

Donald Edward Sarna, age 81 of Jefferson, died Wednesday evening at the Austinburg Nursing & Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his loving family.

He was born April 2, 1938 in Cleveland, the son Joseph & Victoria (Malec) Sarna and has lived in the Jefferson area most of his life, coming from Garrettsville.  He was married to Rose M. Wessell on June 12, 1965 at the Rock Creek Methodist Church.  Mr. Sarna was a plumber by trade and a farmer.  He and his family has owned Sarna Tree Farm in Jefferson since 1946.  He was a hardworking man and enjoyed traveling and being with the grandkids.

Survivors include two daughters, Shelly B. Sarna & Daisy M. (Louis) Asmus, both of Jefferson; seven grandchildren, Leana, Evan, Alex, Vanessa, Valarie, Spring & Trevor; a great-granddaughter, Annabell and four siblings, Joanne (George) Placek of Jefferson, Annie (Jerry) Kidner of Kingsville, James (Lisa) Sarna in Texas and Dorothy Saurer in California.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rose in 2010 and a sister, Nancy Budd.

A memorial service will be held Monday at 6:00 PM at the Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson with Alisa Nierzejewski, certified celebrant leading the service.  Private burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery.
