Jackson Smith Obituary

Jackson C. Smith, age 79 of Jefferson, died Monday afternoon at the Jefferson Healthcare Center.

He was born October 20, 1939 in Indiana, PA, the son of Carl & Zula (Henry) Smith and has lived in the Jefferson area the past 19 years, coming from Cleveland.  Mr. Smith was a veteran of the U. S. Army.

Over the years, Mr. Smith did many things.  He worked in the coal mines, was a bus driver, worked on cars, was a dealer at casino events and loved the race horses and going to Las Vegas.  Jackson and Elizabeth spent 11 years wintering in Florida, enjoying the weather and their friendships.

He is survived by his companion of 18 years, Elizabeth A. Smith from Jefferson; a daughter, Edith B. (John) Chambers of Mentor; a great-granddaughter, Tionna Cisco of Mayfield and a sister, Nancy McAfoose of Indiana, PA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Lora Hale and two sisters, Barbara Burly & Janet Chronoski.

Graveside services will be Saturday, 6/1/19 at 1:00 PM in N. Madison Cemetery with American Legion Neal Post #743 rendering military honors.  Rev. Mick Gilliam will officiate.  The Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory and staff, Jefferson, Geneva & Ashtabula are privileged to serve the Jackson Smith family.
