Gertrude M. “Trudy” Hanhilammi, 88, of Ashtabula died Friday Nov. 16th at Villa at the Lake in Conneaut, Ohio. She was born May 3, 1930 in Ashtabula the daughter of Russell Herbert and Evelyn (Allen) Lewis.
Trudy worked in the Office of Engineering at Reliance Electric in Ashtabula for 19 years retiring in 1986.
She was a member of the Ashtabula County Genealogy Society, a member of VFW Post #943 Auxiliary; a former member of the Red Hats Society. She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. A member of the Road Runners Club with Ringsway Tours. When her sons were younger, she was Den Mother for their Cub Scout Troop. She also volunteered at the Geneva Public Library in Genealogy. Trudy enjoyed quilting, sewing and traveling.
Surviving her is her daughter, Gail (Tim) Ecklund of Ashtabula; a son Alan (Daniela) Hanhilammi of Plymouth Twp.; Six grandchildren, Traci, Jessi, Carla, Russell Hanhilammi, Cory EckLund and Heidi (Joel) Sugarman; Five great grandchildren, Jacob and Isaac Sugarman, Dylan, Jaylyn and Ryan Hanhilammi; three sisters, Ida Mae Rogers of Geneva, LaVaughn Bloom of Plymouth Twp and Rheta Phillips of Phoenix, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl in 2000 and by her son, Keith Hanhilammi.
Funeral service will be Wednesday Nov. 21st at 11:00 AM at the Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 526 W. Prospect Rd. Ashtabula with Alisa Nierzejewski Certified Celebrant officiating. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday Nov. 20th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Contributions in her memory if desired may be made to the Activity Department at Villa at the Lake, 48 Parrish Rd. Conneaut, Ohio 44030 or to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave. Ashtabula, Ohio 44004.
