Eleanor V. Shirk, 90 of Kingsville Township died Sunday (May 2nd) at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home. She was born November 28, 1930 in Denmark Township the daughter of Arthur and Clara (Scott) Hanson.
She was a 1948 graduate of Jefferson High School and had been employed at the Electro Met and SCM until her retirement.
She married James Shirk on October 15, 1948.
Eleanor is a member of the First Covenant Church of Ashtabula. She enjoyed embroidering, reading, gardening, fishing, camping and bowling. She enjoyed baking cookies and loved the family gatherings.
Surviving her is her husband, James Shirk; a son, Norman (Judy) Shirk of Allen, Texas; a daughter, Virginia (Brian) Edixon of Sheffield Township; two grandsons, Andrew Shirk and Brandon Shirk; three sisters, Shirley Smith of Florida, Esther Jurcenko of Iowa and Mary Dumperth of Geneva and a brother, Jim Hanson of Jefferson. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, Agnes Hruska, Ruby Hruska Williams, Anna Moffitt and Arlene Stasny and two brothers, Donald Hanson and Jack Hanson.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Ashtabula Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 526 W. Prospect Rd. is in charge of arrangements.
