Inez Gaumer Obituary

Inez A. Gaumer, passed away in Ashtabula on September 6th. She was born October 31, 1931 in Ashtabula the daughter of Floyd and Ella Fassett and was a life long resident of Ashtabula County. Inez married Stanley L. Gaumer on November 30, 1952 and they had two children Claude and Judy.

Inez became involved with Happy Hearts School during its originating days and volunteered with the MRDD program until 2018. She started and ran an interfaith Sunday school for Developmentally Disabled for 38 years. She was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church where she also served in many capacities.

Inez’s accomplishments are many; one of the earliest members of ARC, she ran levies for Happy Hearts/Ashcraft, served on the state board for ARC and served on Youngstown Developmental Center Board. Inez was also one of the original members of Ashtabula County Special Olympics and ran a bowling league. She also started and ran Youth ARC. Inez was a member of DAR, Ladies Auxiliary of VFW and twice president of Women’s Club of Ashtabula.

Survivors are her daughter Judy Gaumer-Schilling (Bill) a son Claude and a grandson, Christopher Lowe (Hannah). She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sister.

Burial took place in Edgewood Cemetery.
