Joan Lukianchuk Obituary

She was born August 4, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan to Michael and Mary (Schossler) Huber. She was the eldest t of 3 children and lived most of her life in the Jefferson area completing her primary education at Lenox School and graduating from Jefferson High school in 1949.

On April 11, 1953 she married Nicholas (Nick) Lukianchuk. They went on to raise a family, dance many a polka, and tend their farm together until his death in 1995.

She chose to be a homemaker, tending a large garden even into her twilight years, canning and freezing the fruits of her labor, and always making sure a dessert was to be had be it for school, church, or the mere idea of company.  Joan continued to look after her family and be involved in her community and church. She cared for her own mother in her final years and was active and involved in her grandchildrens' lives as well. A proud civil servant, she dedicated over 30 years to the Ashtabula County Board of Elections as a precinct worker. The choir of St. Josephs Church will be one voice softer.

She is preceded in death by her parents, step-father William Noirot, brother Eugene, brother Stanley (Anne) Huber, step- brother William Noirot, and special friend Inge Broda.
She is survived by daughters Lori Gilhousen and Jeanne (James) Jeppe, Sister-in-law Anna Mae Huber Graham (Robert), granddaughter Nicole (Phil) Fried, grandson Tony Staub and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Joan believed strongly in the power of education and cared deeply for any animal that graced her door.
