Kurt Russell Brenkus, 68, passed away peacefully on June 7th, 2023, at his home in Jefferson, Ohio.
He was born on August 24th, 1954, in Ashtabula, Ohio, the son of William and Mary Kay (Brown) Brenkus.
Kurt graduated from Jefferson High School in 1973. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for four years and spent an additional twenty-two years of service in the Army Reserves.
On May 28th, 1977, Kurt married his beautiful bride, Kimberly M. Spangler; together they shared forty-six wonderful years of marriage.
Kurt was employed as a Security Officer for C.E.I and the Perry Nuclear Power Plant for over thirty years.
He enjoyed golfing and building model planes especially miliary planes and tanks. He was a dedicated Cleveland Browns fan, a member of the National Guard and the American Legion Neal Post. His greatest source of joy and happiness was spending time with his family especially his grandson Tyler.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kimberly; his beloved son, Tyler (Tonya Leslie) Brenkus; his grandson, Tyler Dustin Brenkus; his siblings, Lisa Stalnaker and Jenna Brenkus; his in-laws: Linda (Gary) Kolehmainen, Sandy (Tim) Stainfield, Susie (David) Burns, Richard Spangler, Jeffrey Spangler, Michael (Anita) Spangler, Debbie (Steve) Spangler, Robert (Tracy) Spangler and David Spangler.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Dustin Brenkus and his brothers, Jeffrey and Timothy Brenkus.
A private family funeral service will be held on Monday, June 12th, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at the Fleming and Billman Funeral Home, 49 West Jefferson Street in Jefferson. A public graveside service will be held on Monday, June 12th, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at Oakdale Cemetery in Jefferson.
