Maurice Dietrich Obituary

Maurice Marvin “Marv” Dietrich, 87, passed away on January 30, 2023, at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights, Ohio.

Marv was born on February 26, 1935, in Ashtabula, Ohio, the son of Maurice and Val (Castle) Dietrich.

Marv graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1954 and went on to attend Ohio University for two years. He enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country from 1956-1958.

On April 12, 1958, Marv married the love of his life, Jane Findlay; they shared sixty-four years of wonderful marriage and a lifetime of priceless family memories.

Marv worked as a Maintenance Electrician for thirty years at the Millennium Chemical Company.

Marv had many interests, he was an avid golfer who recorded two holes-in-one throughout his golfing career, he played football, baseball and participated in track in high school. He and his wife Jane loved watching the OSU football together and he also enjoyed history, watching NASCAR and listening to all different kinds of music.  He kept himself apprised of current events and enjoyed learning something new each day. He and his wife spent the last twenty winters in Charleston, South Carolina as snowbirds with their family.

Marv will always be remembered as a man of few words but the words he spoke were always kind ones. He had the utmost respect for veterans who selflessly served their country so others could have their freedom.

He is survived by his loving wife Jane; his beloved children: Ann Margaret (Scott) Benedict and Kristen Leigh McClure; his grandchildren: Cameron Dietrich Wade, Conner (Katie) McClure and Derek (Jaclyn McQueeney) McClure and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents.
