Ruth "Abbie" Ann (Fredericks) Hannah

Ruth Ann “Abbie” Hannah at the age of 91 peacefully passed away Wednesday January 5th.  She was born February 4th, 1930 in Hampton, IA to Edward and Ardis Fredericks.  

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 37 years, Thomas “Tom” Hannah, her parents Ed & Ardis, her brother Dean and sister-in-law Marilee Fredericks. 

She is survived by her children, Kasey Hannah of Los Angeles CA, Mike (Laura) Hannah of Akron OH, Susie (Jeff) Kochy of Nashville TN, & Cyndy (Frank) Rossi of Pittsburgh PA.  Grandchildren Sara (Adam) Hannah-Schweiss of Louisville KY, Tom (Missy) Hannah of Raleigh NC, Sam (Jeremy) Phannah of Ban Keun Loas, Bryan (Katy) Kochy of Chicago IL, Adam (Marissa) Kochy of Orlando FL, Alex (Trisha) Kochy of Phoenix AZ, Chris (Kait) Rossi of Pittsburgh PA, Tanner Rossi of Pittsburgh PA, 1 great-grandson Roman “Noodle” Rossi, and sister-in-law Judy (Lyle) Meyer & family.

She graduated with a BS in Education from Drake University, Des Moines IA and married the love of her life and high school sweetheart Tom Hannah on her 21st birthday in 1951.  She taught elementary school where she retired after 30 years of dedication to her many students.  She was also active in PTA including President while living in Lakewood OH, and library board member in Rock Creek OH.   After moving from Lakewood, she was very active in The United Methodist Church of Rock Creek where she sang in the choir and played the organ for services for over 3 decades.  She also enjoyed her Travelers Club and after church lunches over many years.

Most of all, Ruth Ann enjoyed spending quality time with her grandchildren going to games, school events and of course playing Chase-the-Ace with her entire family.  She loved traveling and visited Europe twice, cruised Alaska and the Caribbean and vacationed at beaches with friends and family.

Friends and family may call on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Fleming and Billman Funeral Home 49 West Jefferson Street, Jefferson, Ohio 44047 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.,  with a Memorial Service starting at 2:00 PM.

Per her request, in lieu of flowers memorials are requested to go to The American Heart Association and Pancreatic Cancer in Ruth and Tom’s honor.
