Wanita Pearl Fockler, age 88 of Jefferson, died Thursday afternoon at the Jefferson Healthcare Center.
She was born December 27, 1931 in Summersville, WV, the daughter of Cecil & Anna (Mays) Painter and has been a Jefferson area resident since 1959, coming from Summersville. She was married to Robert P. Fockler on April 6, 1952 in Summersville. After 25 years, Wanita retired from the Glastic Corp. in 1998. She formerly owned and operated a sports shop and gas station in Summersville.
Wanita was a member of the Jefferson Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening.
She is survived by a son, William H. (Jill Forbes) Fockler of Jefferson; two grandchildren, Jennifer Fockler of Ashtabula & Robert Fockler of Jefferson; two step-grandchildren, Byron Forbes of Jefferson & Mary Forbes of Conneaut; a step-great-granddaughter, Scarlet Rose Welker; nephew, Johnnie Gray; niece, Shery Consider; great-niece, Candi Latta and a great-great-nephew, Carter Latta.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert in 2013 and a sister, Glenna Gray.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday at the Jefferson Home of Fleming & Billman Funeral Directors and Crematory, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson with Pastor Curtis Cecil officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery.
